A RETIREMENT property developer hosted a range of events this week for its homeowners in recognition of Loneliness Awareness Week.

Homeowners at the Platinum Skies Dorset and Wiltshire over-55s independent-living communities organised events in support of Loneliness Awareness Week.

Activities included a wine tasting afternoon at Vista in Parkstone, board games, cards and a pool afternoon, as well as twice-daily coffee mornings in Esprit in Poole town centre.

Laura Warwick, director of Lifestyle, Wellbeing and Entertainment at Platinum Skies, said: “We are proud to support Loneliness Awareness Week which encourages people to talk to a friend or relative if they are feeling lonely. Some of our homeowners were previously living in rural, isolated locations so they can relate to those who don’t currently benefit from the lifestyle that a Platinum Skies property offers. They’ve moved to our communities to make new friends, participate in our activities as much or as little as they want and often find a sense of purpose in this next chapter of their lives.”

Platinum Skies is hosting an open week in Poole and Salisbury from June 28 to July 4, and in Sherborne and Taunton from July 5 to 11. During the events, the public can view and reserve a choice of shared-ownership homes, while the Sherborne and Taunton apartments are available to reserve off-plan.

Prices for a Platinum Skies homes are made affordable as part of a government-backed shared ownership scheme delivered in partnership with Homes England.
