COASTGUARD rescue teams were called to help a casualty who injured their leg after juimping off Bournemouth Pier.

The casualty, who had been drinking, injured their leg at around 7.15pm on Monday evening.

A spokesperson for the Poole Coastguard Rescue Team said: “Poole Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked by Solent Coastguard to Bournemouth Pier to assist South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust with an injured person.

“The casualty had been drinking on the beach, before they started to jump off the pier, and injuring their leg after landing.

The coastguard team used a multipurpose stretcher to carry the casualty across the sand to the waiting ambulance, where they were assessed by the paramedics before transport to hospital.

“Never jump into the unknown or encourage your mates to take the leap, it could be deadly.

“You can’t see what’s lurking underneath and the water might look deeper than it is.

“But, if you do see someone in trouble, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
