A VESSEL from Swanage Lifeboat Station was deployed after reports of a diver’s surface marker buoy with no diver nearby.
The Swanage D-class inshore lifeboat (ILB) was requested to investigate a diver’s surface marker buoy (SMB) that was seen near Peveril Ledge with no dive boat or other activity in its vicinity.
Having used a unoccupied underwater robot from a fisheries patrol vessel to search the water, nothing else was found in poor visibility.
A spokesman from Swanage Lifeboat Station said: “The ILB launched and was very quickly on scene where another vessel had recovered the SMB with nothing attached and no bubbles or other signs seen.
“The ILB was asked to perform an expanding square search of the area.
“While the search was being carried out, a fisheries patrol vessel arrived at the scene and was able to also search with its remotely operated vehicle – but reported nothing found in poor visibility.”
