A COUPLE from Verwood have raised over £800 for Thames Valley Air Ambulance by walking 100km long the Jurassic Coast.

Oliver Davis and Amelia Andrews, 24, decided to take on a two-day challenge to mark their gratitude for attending a serious road traffic collision involving Oliver’s father.

Oliver’s father, John, 55, from north Oxfordshire, was involved in a serious road traffic collision in September 2020 when his motorbike collided with a car.

John sustained several leg injuries including an open fracture, and wrist fractures along with a dislocated shoulder, which required the services of the Thames Valley Air Ambulance crew, who bring hospital care to the roadside.

John is now on the long road to recovery thanks to the air ambulance crew and trauma team at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Oliver said: "We’re so thankful for Thames Valley Air Ambulance for the expert care they gave to my father. Until that incident, we had no idea the air ambulance is a charity and that’s why Amelia and I took on this challenge. It’s a fantastic charity that provides a critical service to the local community and we will never forget what they did for Dad."

Amelia and Oliver completed their challenge on Sunday, May 23.

Head of Community and Events at Thames Valley Air Ambulance, Ruth Dunkin said: "We are so grateful to Oliver and Amelia for taking on this challenge and smashing their fundraising target. As a charity, we rely solely on people like Oliver and Amelia whose support means we can provide hospital care to the most critically ill and injured patients."
