A RAFT of improvements at an athletics facility in Bournemouth are due to be complete at the end of June.
BCP Council is investing more than £450,000 in the work at King's Park Athletics Centre.
The project includes a newly resurfaced running track as well as improved accessibility and lighting.
Providing an update on the refurbishment, which began in February, a BCP Council spokesperson said: "Improvements to the King's Park Athletics Centre are coming on nicely.
"Floodlight works are complete, new track kerbs are installed, works to the long jump area are underway and a new track surface has been laid – this is before it gets sprayed red and lined as a running track.
"Works are due to complete at the end of June."
Discussing the investment in the athletics centre, Cllr Mohan Iyengar, BCP Council portfolio holder for leisure, said the project showed the local authority's "intention to invest in and improve our outdoor sport facilities".
"King's Park Athletics Centre is a superb venue, hosting everyone from school children right up to elite competitors," said Cllr Iyengar.
“It’s a community hub and a symbol of our commitment to active and healthy lifestyles for our residents."
