JONATHAN Woodgate insists he is unsure whether today was his final match in charge of Cherries.

Woodgate took over as head coach, initially on an interim basis, after Jason Tindall was sacked in February.

The Nunthorpe-born boss signed a contract until the end of the season, which for Cherries came to an end at Brentford today.

Leading 1-0 from the first leg of their play-off semi-final, Cherries were beaten 3-1 in west London, going out 3-2 on aggregate, meaning they are now facing up to another season in the Championship.

Asked if he wants to be the man to lead the club into the 2021-22 campaign, Woodgate told the Daily Echo: "I haven’t thought about it. I’ll be honest with you, I haven’t thought about that.

"I’ll go back and reflect on what went well since I’ve been in charge and what a decent job that we did to get to this stage.

"Okay, it didn’t go fully to plan, for reasons and issues that we can’t really affect, by referees making bad decisions like that (penalty for handball by Lloyd Kelly)."

He added: "It’s been a crazy few months, but it’s something that I’ll think about.

"Listen, at the end of the day it’s not my decision to make, it really isn't my decision."

Asked if he expects to receive a call from the board soon regarding his future, Woodgate added: "I have no idea on that."

Woodgate has won 13 of his 23 matches in charge of Cherries.
