OVER the last couple of months I have notice a growing number of letters from people complaining about various large scale planning applications.

The problem is that under the national planning rules each of the three towns – Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch – has to each show that it has at least five years worth of housing in the pipeline otherwise the planning inspectorate will be minded to over turn a refusal on appeal and grant the applicant costs, which can be substantial.

Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch are at the moment below the target figure and therefore the planning committee find themself in a invidious position trying to manage the growing number of applications.
