A TENNIS club employee investigated for sexual offences remains suspended despite police announcing they will take no further action.

The Lawn Tennis Association(LTA) said it is continuing to investigate the case which refers to a male employee at the exclusive West Hants Club in Bournemouth.

The staff member was suspended from all tennis activity when allegations of "non-recent sexual offences" came to light in October last year.

Last week police said they do not plan to take any further action but today the LTA said its inquiries are ongoing.

A spokesman for the association told the Daily Echo: "Despite the Police concluding their investigation, the LTA is continuing to investigate this case and the individual remains suspended from all tennis activity."

The organisation also urged anyone with information to come forward.

It added: "If anyone has any information that they think is relevant to this case then we would urge them to contact the LTA in confidence at safeguarding@lta.org.uk."

Dorset Police conducted an investigation into the individual at the Roslin Road South club after being made aware of allegations in October last year.

Club members were notified of the allegations by the club's Chief Executive Peter Elviss.

Last week a police spokesman said: "Dorset Police received a referral from the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) on Tuesday October 13 2020 after being made aware of three allegations relating to non-recent sexual offences between 2013 and 2015 involving a member of staff at the West Hants Club in Roslin Road South in Bournemouth.

"A full investigation was carried out and a man was arrested and released under investigation. Following enquiries carried out in joint partnership with the LTA, he has been released from the investigation and will face no further police action in connection with these allegations."
