DISCARDED beer bottles and speeding drivers are putting children at risk on a popular route for walking to school.

Police in Poole are now targeting offenders in the area of Nuffield industrial estate following complaints from members of the public.

Graffiti has also been identified as an issue in the area and officers have appealed for information about those responsible.

A spokesman for the Poole Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "The public path that runs alongside the dual carriageway is a popular route for children walking to school in the area, yet some people think it's a great idea to dispose of their beer bottles and treat surrounding roads like a race track.

"Let's keep the area safe and clean - its a simple request we think. If anyone knows who's responsible for the graffiti tag, please get in touch requesting the information is passed to Poole North NPT who will be happy to follow it up."
