THERE have been a total of 19 new cases of coronavirus confirmed across Dorset over the past 24 hours, according to data released by the Government.

Data released online showed that seven new cases were recorded in the BCP Council area in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Monday, May 10.

This took the total number of cases in the conurbation since the start of the pandemic to 25,408.

In the seven days leading up to May 5, the latest rolling seven-day period, BCP Council recorded 50 cases, giving a rolling infection rate of 12.6 per 100,000 people.

Across the Dorset Council area 12 people tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 11,933 cases in this area.

Over the latest seven-day period 29 cases were recorded, with a rate of 7.7 per 100,000 people.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 37,341 confirmed cases of coronavirus across Dorset.

Meanwhile, a further four cases were recorded in the New Forest, with 6,216 now since the start of the pandemic.

The latest weekly rate stands at 9.4 cases per 100,000 people after 17 cases were recorded.
