MORE than 180,000 people have now received the second dose of a Covid vaccine in Dorset.

Latest NHS figures, which cover the period up to April 25, show that both doses had been administered to 187,235 people across the county.

A further 273,207 have had their first jab to date and are awaiting a second.

This means in total just less than 650,000 jabs have been given out in Dorset.

Of those that have received both doses, 52,348 are aged over 80.

The rest of the people to have had both jabs breaks down as:

  • 35,505 aged 75 to 79
  • 33,802 aged 70 to 74
  • 12,462 aged 65 to 69
  • 8,032 aged 60 to 64
  • 8,910 aged 55 to 59
  • 7,944 aged 50 to 54
  • 6,405 aged 45 to 49
  • 21,838 aged under 45

Based on the most recent ONS population estimates, More than 90 per cent of Dorset residents in each age group from 55 to over 80 has received at least one dose.

Around 77 per cent of 45 to 49 year olds have had one jab so far.

As reported, the vaccine rollout has now been extended to everyone in England aged 40 and over.

From Friday, April 30, NHS England will be sending out text messages informing 40 and 41-year-olds they are able to book an appointment.
