A MAN threw food at a member of staff and Marks & Spencer in Christchurch.

The shop worker was also abused during the incident at the store in High Street.

Police have now issued a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak with following the assault.

Two men entered M&S at around 10.45am on Tuesday, March 30, and were reported to be acting suspiciously.

A member of staff spoke to one of the men, before they became verbally abusive and threw their basket onto the ground.

It is reported that one of the men then picked up food items from the shop floor and threw them at a member of staff, but they did not sustain any injuries.

Police Community Support Investigator Richard King, of Christchurch police, said: “No member of staff should be subjected to verbal or physical abuse and an investigation is underway into the incident.

“The suspect was also verbally abusive in the presence of customers, who were just trying to do their shopping and should not have had to witness such abuse.

“Following enquiries I have obtained a CCTV image of the man who is reported to have thrown food at a staff member.

“I am appealing to anyone who recognises him to please get in contact with Dorset Police.”
