I HAVE just had a ‘Smart’ meter installed.

Despite the many negative reports or bad myths I had heard before that long put me off, I am now finding such very advanced in future technology.

I am not putting any meter readers out of work because beforehand, I used to give my readings online. Now I don’t even have to bother with that.

I was amazed that my new ‘Smart’ meter was so small – I imagined it to be such a large box with all sorts of buttons or configurations that I would have to learn to understand it’s goings on.

But no! I don’t have to go anywhere near my new ‘Smart’ installation within my dark cupboard, instead I have been given a small module that I can plug in anywhere within my home – that gives off an inbuilt WiFi connection that informs me of everything I need to know.

It relays to me all my daily usage and how much it costs for every appliance I switch on.
Okay. That is its good point, in which everybody should want to have a ‘Smart’ meter installed.

However be very wary of its bad points.

The downside is it makes one become very concerned with the amount of energy they are using which in turn, forces one to become a little bit paranoid and shut down more than they did before – turning off lights or even the TV or PC when not being used.

Not filling the kettle so much for just one cup of tea but most of all – not being so free and easy on all heating appliances.

Yet, this can still only be a good thing: for both our in-house utility expenditure and for our planet.
