FIREFIGHTERS met some unusual creatures when they were called to a north Dorset home on Saturday.
They encountered a python and some tortoises in a fire in a tortoise enclosure at an address in Sixpenny Handley at 5.12pm.

Crews from Verwood and Blandford went to the home and found a small fire in some carpet used at the bottom of the vivarium
The fire was extinguished using two sets of breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet before firefighters made the most of the opportunity to handle the python
