Commuters in Swanage are to expect delays as a residential road in the town is to be closed for up to five days due to sewage renovation works.

All vehicle access will be prohibited in both directions along Taunton Road between Marshall Row and Cluny Crescent from Wednesday April 26.

The notice, issued under Section 14 [2] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984 by Dorset Council, will enable Wessex Water safe access to carry out maintenance works on the sewer system.

Diversions will be in place along Grosvenor Road, Dulston Road and Park Road for the duration of the works.

The closure, a distance of approximately 150 metres, will remain in force for five days, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by Friday April 30.

Roadworks are needed to comply with health and safety regulations and to minimise likelihood of danger to highway users.

Any person who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the order will be liable on summary conviction to a fine of up to £1000.

For further information about the work being undertaken, call Wessex Water on 0345 600 4 600.
