BOURNEMOUTH beaches remained quiet today despite the sunshine and clear skies.
A small number of Dorset residents were seen enjoying the sunshine and golden sands, but overall our beaches remained quiet today, Sunday, April 4.
Throughout the day BCP Council's Beach Check app consistently said there was "low congestion", suggesting that many people are following Covid-19 restrictions in place.
Earlier this week, Bournemouth beaches were populated with beach-goers soaking up the sunshine as temperatures soared to 17 degrees celcius.
On Wednesday, March 31, visitors were seen enjoying sunbathing, surfing, cooking barbecues and even boxing.
Despite the easing of restrictions on March 29, people are urged to abide by the current government guidance.
This includes wearing masks where needed and maintaining a two metre distance from those not in your household.
BCP Council’s Service Director Destination & Culture, Chris Saunders said: "People will need to remember that the government guidance is to stay local.
"By government stipulation non-essential shops, restaurants and bars will still be closed, with very limited takeaway outlets open. So, people need to follow the government guidance and minimise travel and stay local."
Following the easing of restrictions, people can meet outdoors either in a group of six (from any number of households), or in a group of any size from up to two households (a household can include an existing support bubble, if eligible).
You can also take part in formally organised outdoor sports with any number of people.
Childcare and supervised activities are allowed outdoors for all children and formally organised parent and child groups can take place outdoors for up to 15 attendees.
Children aged below five will not be counted in this number.
