BCP COUNCIL have formed a new panel focussed on bringing back pride to Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area.

The Cleaner, Greener, Safer campaign focuses on the issues that really matter to residents across the three towns.

Successful initiatives already undertaken include improved street cleaning, investment in additional Community Safety Accreditation Scheme officers to deal with anti-social behaviour, and a commitment to plant over 10,000 trees in 2021.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Drew Mellor commented: “We really want our residents to feel proud to live in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

“The launch of the Cleaner, Greener, Safer campaign is a great starting point, but we know there is still a lot of work to do.

“This is a key focus for us, and I have asked for this panel to be set up to ensure we continue to make this a priority until our residents can really see a notable difference.”

The new committee was set up as a result of the difficulties experienced by the council and residents within the local authority area during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Portfolio-Holders and lead-councillors will work alongside officers, partners and stakeholders across the conurbation to discuss priorities and plans to support an enhanced response to the challenges faced by residents.

Cllr Mellor added: “Over the next few weeks, we will be inviting a number of stakeholders to join our panel to start discussions that will explore views on the priorities for investment in our public places, look at how to maximise the impact of our collective resources and how to harness the contributions that many other organisations and residents are keen to make.”

“We are committed to our vibrant communities with outstanding quality of life where everyone plays an active role and we’re keen to work on this to make the conurbation cleaner, greener and safer for all our residents, as well as the influx of visitors that will be holidaying in our beautiful coastal towns over the next few months.”
