A FIRE has ripped through a home in the New Forest.

Emergency services raced to tackle a blaze at a property in Pilley last night.

A fire tore through the timber frame property in School Lane at around 2am.

The roof was 100 per cent damaged, meanwhile downstairs was 50 per cent damaged.

Six engines were called out to tackle the blaze with crews from Lymington, Brockenhurst, Beaulieu, Lyndhurst, St Mary's and Eastleigh Fire Stations all on the scene.

Both police and ambulance services were notified. Once the fire was brought under control, a "salvage operations" was launched to "save as many personal items as possible".

The stop message came in at 5.23am A post on Twitter from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire Control said: "Update - stop received 0523hrs.

Domestic property timber construction 20m x 15m. Fire in roof space, roof 100% by fire, 1st floor 50% by fire, ground floor 25% by fire. 3 breathing apparatus, 3 jets, 3 hosereels. Incident scaled down, damping down still in progress."
