OVER  30 coronavirus cases were confirmed in Dorset in the last 24 hours, latest figures show.

Data released by the government shows 36 cases were confirmed across the county in the 24 hours leading up to 5.17pm on Thursday.

The BCP Council area recorded 12 cases, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 25,071.

In the seven days leading up to March 20, the latest rolling seven-day period, 99 cases were confirmed in BCP, giving a rolling infection rate of 25 per 100,000 people.

The Dorset Council area recorded 24 new cases, taking its total to 11,674.

The rolling infection rate was 29.9 per 100,000 after 113 cases were confirmed in a week.

Elsewhere, six cases were confirmed in the New Forest, taking the total to 6,066.

The rolling infection rate stood at 21.7 per 100,000 with 39 cases confirmed in the seven days before March 20.
