RETURNING caged animals to the wild is a highly skilled job.

The animals can be scared and may have lost the skills to survive out there.

So it is with the struggle to free motorists from being held prisoner in their cars and traffic jams for so many decades, often their whole lives.

Offerings of cycle lanes and pedestrian crossings making walking and cycling safer ways to travel is snatched up by some with eagerness and enthusiasm.

For others, fear of the unknown holds them back cowering in their cars, fearful of any change.

Sadly, many have become too damaged by a life forced into cars as the only option to be able to use the pavements or bike lanes easily or at all.

My hope is that those who can, will.

This leaves the roads emptier for commercial traffic that can’t use trains for freight or the internet for meetings, emergency service/utility vehicles and people unable to walk or cycle because of physical limitations.
