SAY hello to these adorable babies bringing joy to proud parents and excited siblings one year after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

Three lock-downs and stringent rules and guidelines have meant it's been a difficult and anxious time for many couples expecting babies.

But these gorgeous newborns are bringing joy to eight Dorset families. We’re celebrating the safe arrival of more of the county’s newest and cutest residents. Each one of our featured babies was welcomed into the world at St Mary’s Maternity Unit in Poole, at Dorchester Hospital or at home. They’re all happy and healthy at home, getting to know their immediate families and hoping to meet more family and friends soon.

Samantha Rew welcomed first baby Grace Florence Haynes at Poole hospital, weighing 7lb 6oz and said: “My little angel arrived at 8.30pm on 12th July 2020 and has experienced two lockdowns already. Nevermind, more time with mummy!”

Rosie Drage’s baby Maddison Robin Pill was born 18/01/2021 at Poole maternity, weighing 6lb 7ozs, a sister for Theodore

Maya Sanchez-Monk gave birth to a daughter , 8lb 7 oz, Honey Sanchez-Thow on 19/12/2020 at Dorchester hospital, a much loved sister for Sienna and Santino.

Chantelle Rendell’s baby girl Zendaya-Rose love was born on 14 August 2020 at Poole Maternity Unit, weighing 5lb 3oz.

And Gabriella O’Connor says they “couldn’t be more excited” to welcome first child Elsie Anne O’Connor, born 30/12/2020 at Poole maternity unit, weighing 6lbs 11oz.

Catherine Gray welcomed Eleanor Mary Jane Gray on 21/01/21 at St Marys, weighing 6lb 10, a sister for James Gray. She said: “Eleanor made a very unexpected and quick arrival by emergency c-section at 9.47 am. Luckily, mummy was already in hospital as she was not well as things took a very sudden turn. Sadly, daddy didn't make it in time for her to be born but we are doing well and out of hospital.”

Summer Barnes gave birth to Jettson Charlie Ashley Barnes on 31/10/2020 at Poole maternity unit, weighing 5lb 9oz, a brother for sister Harlowe. Jettson was born 4 weeks early and rushed straight to NICU where he spent the next 9 days before being introduced to his big sister.

It has been a challenging time of both sadness and joy for Natalie Jane Harris who welcomed Alice Rose Cherrett on 22/12/20 at Poole Maternity, weighing 5lbs. She told us: “I became pregnant at the start of the pandemic. Alice was a twin but unfortunately lost her brother at 27 weeks due to placental failure (Charlie Peter Cherrett). I chose to be induced at 37 weeks due to Alice being small. Labour was short but painful. Alice was back to back and I needed forceps to help with delivering. I gave birth to both babies, which understandably involved mixed emotions. Alice was the perfect gift to end a rubbish year!”
