FIREFIGHTERS in Dorset were called to six incidents yesterday including a report of a man with his foot trapped underneath a digger.

Crews from across the county attended the incidents between 8.24am and 8.37pm.

The first incident was a chimney fire in Old Forge Close in Lytchett Minster.

A crew from Poole extinguished the fire using a chimney kit, a thermal imaging camera and small tools.

At 12.11pm two crews from Poole were called to a domestic property in Sandy Lane, Upton, where a man had his foot trapped underneath and one-and-a-half tonne digger.

The casualty was released using hydraulic rescue equipment and ambulance crews also attended.

Two hours later crews from Redhill Park and Westbourne used two hose reel jets to put out a fire on heathland at the rear of Monkton Crescent in Poole.

One appliance from Poole attended a false alarm at Woodstock Road in Poole at 6.07pm and at 8pm crews dealt with a bin fire at a bus stop in Parsonage Road, Bournemouth.

At 8,37pm a crew from Ferndown was alerted to a smell of burning in New Road, West Parley, which turned out to be a controlled burn nearby.
