THE total number of people who have tested positive for coronavirus in the BCP area surpassed 25,000 as 23 more cases were confirmed county-wide.

In the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Friday, 11 cases were confirmed in the BCP Council area, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 25,001.

In the seven days leading up to March 14, the latest rolling seven-day period, 135 cases were confirmed, giving a rolling infection rate of 34.1 per 100,000.

The Dorset Council area recorded 12 new cases, taking the total to 11,560.

The rolling rate stood at 29.6 per 100,000 after 112 cases were confirmed in a week.

Elsewhere, four cases were confirmed in the New Forest, taking the total to 6,033.

The rolling rate was 24.4 per 100,000 after 44 cases were confirmed in the week before March 14.
