COASTGUARD crews were called out following reports from Liverpool that people had been seen jumping off Bournemouth Pier late at night.
The concerns were first raised to Merseyside Police on Thursday, March 18, when a member of the public contacted the force to report the incident they had seen on the online web cameras of the seafront.
This report was sent on to Dorset Police, who in turn contacted HM Coastguard shortly before 11.30pm.
Teams from Poole and Southbourne attended to investigate the welfare of anyone involved and to offer safety advice.
A Poole Coastguard spokesperson said: "A search of the pier, beach and areas around the pier were conducted, with no signs of people who'd been swimming.
"With wet footprints seem heading towards the town, teams stood down to return to station."
