A MONTH-long series of events celebrating Wimborne businesses is to go online this year.

Discover Wimborne was cancelled last year and will go digital this April.

It traditionally sees businesses offering events, workshops, promotions and competitions.

Tammy Sleet, manager of Wimborne Business Improvement District (BID), which organises the event, said: “We wanted to provide something that connected people to the town, and Discover Wimborne is a great way to do that. There’ll be a dedicated website, and people will be able to view videos, download activities and see special offers.

“We’ve never thought of doing a virtual festival before the pandemic but in future, even when we are allowed to get together again, I am sure an element of online will stay with Discover Wimborne.”

Events will include a virtual version of the craft market Handmade Wimborne, a virtual food tour, and tips from specialist businesses.

As well as the website discoverwimborne.com, events will be supported by Wimborne’s digital shop window, ShopAppy, which gives an opportunity for every business to sell online.

The platform, supported by Wimborne BID and Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership, will also host the Handmade Wimborne market and can be found at shopappy.com/wimborne
