THE large sign telling residents 'These Days Will Pass' has been attracting attention in Bournemouth town centre.

Situated on the main screen of The Avenue Centre, Commercial Road, the artwork is part of an exhibition called Crash, which is running at a new contemporary gallery at the centre called Giant.

This exhibition, which was launched by artist Stuart Semple, is visible from the pedestrianised area and is running until April 30.

Latest government guidelines don't allow Crash to open to the public, but it will open in full as soon as coronavirus regulations allow.

Crash features work from artists including Ron Arad, Cory Arcangel, Paola Ciarska, Sarah Maple, Mark McGowan and Mark Titchner.

A spokesman for the exhibition said the collection "centres around the 'crash' that both society and culture have recently experienced" and that themes of technology run throughout.

They added: "Our reliance on devices during lockdown for work or staying connected is reflected, as well as how easily a digital crash can disrupt day-to-day life.

"The exhibition is an opportunity to look back at the moment after impact – the crash experienced as a result of the pandemic.

"This carefully curated exhibition opens up to a range of explorations, presenting different perspectives and different aspects of how the pandemic has affected our daily lives."

'Please Believe These Days Will Pass' is the work of Turner Prize-nominee Mark Titchner.

Sarah Maple's sculpture 'The World as We Know It' will be positioned outside the gallery space.

It is intended as a reminder of the initial impact of the pandemic – the end of the world we all knew.

Giant is set to move to its permanent home, a 15,000 square foot architect-designed space in the town later this summer.
