FEWER than 30 coronavirus cases were confirmed in Dorset over the last 24 hours, latest figures show.

Data released by the government shows 26 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Thursday.

The BCP Council area recorded 13 new cases, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 24,990.

In the seven days leading up to March 13, the latest rolling seven-day period, 132 cases were confirmed, giving a rolling infection rate of 33.4 per 100,000 people.

The Dorset Council area also recorded 13 new cases, taking its total to 11,548.

The rolling infection rate was 29.3 per 100,000 after 111 cases were confirmed in a week.

Elsewhere, ten cases were confirmed in the New Forest, taking the total to 6,029.

The rolling infection rate was 24.4 after 44 cases were confirmed in the lead up to March 13.
