A BOURNEMOUTH man has been disqualified from driving for a year after admitting a string of motoring offences.

Paul Richard Green admitted six charges relating to five separate incidents, which all took place in last year when he was at the wheel of a white BMW X1.

The 56-year-old, whose address was given as West Hill Road, Bournemouth, was caught speeding three times the A338 Spur Road in the 50mph zone and once in a 40mph zone on the Wessex Way.

The Spur Road matters involved him travelling at 61mph on March 12, 71mph on March 18 and 68mph on June 17.

Meanwhile, on the Wessex Way he travelled at 57mph on February 20.

The bench heard that on April 8 Green was driving when he failed to comply with a no entry sign into a one-way street in Hinton Road, Bournemouth. He also provided a blood sample which had 68 micrograms of benzoylecgonine – the main metabolite of cocaine – per litre of blood.

The defendant admitted four counts of speeding, one of drug driving and one of contravention of a traffic regulation order.

District judge Stephen Nicholls sitting at Poole Magistrates' Court on March 9 issued Green with a 12-month driving ban, along with an order to pay a £300 fine, £34 surcharge and £100 costs.
