A SEASIDE project that will "improve" visitors' experience of Poole Bay is set to be completed by the summer season.

Work on the Shore Road project started in September 2019.

The project aims to highlight the road's importance as the starting point of the promenade around the bay.

Portfolio Holder for Tourism, Leisure & Culture, Cllr Mohan Iyengar said: "Shore Road is a busy gateway for people coming to the beaches here and I’m glad this project is really going to improve their experience.

"The plaza area on the seafront has been resurfaced along with better signage – and with new seating once the final bits of stonework are in place. The beach huts, toilets and showers have been modernised. Also a new beach office is there with a larger food and drink kiosk and a water-sports centre. The centre is being fitted out now by Easy Riders and should open in May.

"We’ve taken a bit of delay with Covid-19 restrictions and having to work around the project to replenish the beaches. But we should see everything in place for the start of summer season.

"Put together, this is a nicer and more modern welcome to the seafront for residents and visitors, with a lot more on offer."

The final touches will be added over spring 2021 with the installation of stone benches and rock art.
