BCP's Covid case rate fell below Dorset's last week

In the seven days to March 5, the rate per 100,000 people in the BCP area was 32.6 with Dorset's rate at 32.8.

The previous week, the rate in the BCP area was 68.8 and 53.9 in Dorset. 

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole has previously had a higher rate than the rest of the county.

The number of cases across the conurbation fell from 272 to 129.

Meanwhile in Dorset, there were 124 cases last week compared to 204 previously. 

The figures are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government’s testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two).

The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.

Data for the most recent four days (March 6-9) has been excluded as it is incomplete and does not reflect the true number of cases.
