A DRINK driver who failed to stop at the scene of a crash in Poole has appeared in court.

Robert William Anderson, 38, was at the wheel of a Citroen C4 which was involved in a collision with a BMW 520d in Fernside Road.

After the crash on July 25, 2020, it was reported that Anderson fled the scene but was located by officers a short time later.

Magistrates sitting at court in Poole on March 5 were told Anderson provided a sample which contained 186 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood – the legal limit is 80 milligrams.

Anderson, whose address was given as Ashley Road, Bournemouth, admitted charges of drink driving, failing to stop after an accident and using a vehicle in a dangerous condition given the damage it had sustained.

The bench issued the defendant with a community order with a requirement to have treatment for alcohol dependency for six months and complete 10 days of rehabilitation activity requirement.

He was disqualified from holding a driving licence for three years and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £95 surcharge.
