AN ARREST has been made in relation to an incident in which a disabled man was verbally abused and spat at.

Police launched an investigation over the hate crime which took place in Poole.

Officers said the victim, a man who has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair, was verbally abused by another man in Terence Avenue at around 12.40pm on February 2.

The victim was reportedly spat at, with the saliva making contact with the wheelchair.

An appeal for information was launched by police on February 8.

Providing an update on March 5, a Dorset Police spokesman said: "Following enquiries, a 26-year-old Poole man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and an aggravated public order offence.

"He has been released under investigation as officers carry out further enquiries."
