LESS than 35 coronavirus cases were confirmed in Dorset over the last 24 hours, latest figures confirmed.

The government’s daily update revealed 34 new cases of Covid-19 across the county were recorded in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Tuesday.

The BCP Council area recorded 22 new cases, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 24,687.

In the seven days leading up to February 25, the latest rolling seven-day period, 299 cases were recorded, giving a rolling infection rate of 75.6 per 100,000 people.

The Dorset Council area recorded 12 new cases, taking the total top 11,267.

The rolling rate stood at 57.9 per 100,000 people after 219 cases were recorded in a week.

Elsewhere, seven cases were confirmed in the New Forest, taking its total to 5,917.

The rolling rate stood at 51.6 per 100,000 after 93 cases were confirmed in the week leading up to February 25.
