FRAUDSTERS posing as police officers are targeting north Dorset residents to steal cash.
Police have issued a warning after people have been asked to withdraw cash and take it home.
The scammers tell people the cash needs to be examined or that it is evidence.
A courier then arrives and takes the money away.
Eight new CCTV cameras to be installed to deter criminals
A spokesman for North Dorset police said: "Unfortunately north Dorset residents have been victim to this type of crime in the last few days.
"The police will never ask you to hand over money or ask personal or banking details."
Anyone who has been the victim of such a crime is urged to call Dorset Police on 101.
