A YOUNG man found dead of multiple injuries on the beach below cliffs at Hengistbury Head has been named.

An inquest was opened and adjourned into the death of Remigiusz Daniel Behrendt, aged 23, at Dorset Coroner's Court, Bournemouth Town Hall, on Wednesday, February 3.

During the short hearing, presided over by coroner Brendan Allen, evidence was heard from coroner's officer Ken McEwan.

Mr McEwan said that Mr Behrendt, born in Pila in Poland, was residing at an address on Leven Avenue, Bournemouth.

On Sunday, January 3, this year, his body was located on the beach below the cliffs by a member of the public who had been fishing in the area.

Paramedics attended the scene and confirmed Mr Behrendt was deceased.

The court was also told that Dorset Police officers had carried out an investigation and had confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances or third part involvement.

Following a post mortem examination the cause of death was recorded as multiple injuries.

Emergency services were called to the scene in the early hours of January 3.

Mr Allen adjourned the inquest until a hearing at a later date.
