FEWER than 140 coronavirus cases were confirmed in Dorset over the last 24 hours, latest figures show.

Data released by the government shows 136 cases were confirmed in the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Saturday.

The BCP Council area recorded 88 cases, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 23,803.

In the seven days leading up to February 8, the latest rolling seven-day period, 891 cases were confirmed, giving a rolling infection rate of 225.4 per 100,000 people.

In the Dorset Council area, 48 cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours, taking the total to 10,694.

The rolling rate stood at 133.7 per 100,000 people, with 506 cases confirmed in a week.

Elsewhere, 38 new cases were confirmed in the New Forest, taking the total to 5,659.

The rolling rate stood at 110.5, after 199 cases were confirmed in the lead up to February 8.
