MORE than 200 coronavirus cases were confirmed in Dorset over the last 24 hours, latest figures have revealed.

Data released by the government shows 211 cases were confirmed in the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Friday.

In the BCP Council area, 99 cases were recorded, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 23,715.

In the seven days leading up to February 7, the latest seven-day rolling rate, 928 cases were recording, meaning the rolling infection rate stood at 234.7 per 100,000.

The Dorset Council area recorded 112 cases over the last 24 hours, taking the total to 10,646.

The rolling rate stood at 149.8 per 100,000 people, with 567 cases confirmed in a week.

Elsewhere, 30 cases were confirmed in the New Forest, meaning a total of 5,621 people have tested positive in the forest since the start of the pandemic.

The rolling rate stood at 117.2 after 211 cases were confirmed in the lead up to February 7.
