A DRIVER who "sprinted" away from police when stopped for no insurance later claimed his car was missing.
Officers from the Dorset Police No Excuse team stopped the Vauxhall Astra in Bournemouth on Thursday February 4.
A spokesman said: "With gyms closed during this lockdown it will seem people will do anything to get some exercise.
"Take the male driver of this Astra. It pinged up on the ANPR for no Insurance held. We caused it stop and before we took our seat belt off, the driver was out and sprinting down Charminster Road. Clearly needed the exercise. We seized the car.
"Later in the day we got a call from the owner saying his car was missing. Maybe he thought the car took itself out for some exercise too?"
Enquiries continue.
