A MOTORIST who was airlifted to hospital following a crash in icy conditions on the A35 remains in a serious condition nearly two weeks later.

As previously reported, a white Toyota Hilux crashed into the central reservation and the bridge pillar on the westbound carriageway on A35 Puddletown Bypass near to the Northbrook junction at approximately 9am on Sunday, January 24.

Police officers and an air ambulance arrived at the scene, where the driver, a man in his 20s from Southampton, was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

The road, which was along several roads affected by snow and ice after Dorset has hit by snow overnight, was shut for several hours as emergency services investigated the scene. One lane remains closed on the westbound carriageway for barrier repairs.

A spokeswoman for Dorset Police has confirmed the man remains in hospital as investigations continue into the collision.

She said: “The injured man was still in serious condition in hospital.”

Sergeant Lee Savage, of the traffic unit at Dorset Police, asked anyone with dashcam footage or saw the collision to contact the police.
