ALL NHS staff across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole will have free access to Beryl bikes and e-scooters.
Working with Bournemouth University (BU) and Arts University Bournemouth (AUB), Beryl has announced the new initiative providing free access to the scheme during the current Covid-19 pandemic
NHS staff will be able to access the scheme by signing up to the Beryl App with their NHS email.
They can then redeem a code for a 200 minute bundle, of wich there are 400 available, for rides in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole service area.
Phil Ellis, CEO of Beryl said: “As the Covid-19 crisis continues, many people can’t stay home as they’ll be working to protect and aid the general public.
“We want to ensure these essential workers can still be mobile and maintain safe distances from others while travelling to and from their places of work.
“As such, we’re working with our university partners to make Beryl bikes, and e-scooters temporarily free for NHS staff in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, to help them get around and to say thanks for the important work they’re doing.”
Jim Andrews, chief operating officer at BU said: “We’re delighted to support this initiative which will give our NHS workers a free and flexible transport option.
“Not only does this help support them by saving money, it is an excellent way to reduce carbon emissions and stay fit and healthy.”
Tom Marshall, head of estates and campus services at AUB added: “Arts University Bournemouth welcomes the opportunity to work with Beryl as part of its support for NHS workers during this difficult time. Cycling helps to reduce pressure on public transport and the road network and is an excellent way to reduce carbon emissions while staying fit and healthy.”
