AS THE clinical director of Shore Medical I felt I should respond to the letters you recently published describing positive and negative experiences of our Covid vaccination clinics running from Heatherview Medical Centre.

We have delivered over 10,000 vaccinations over the last seven weeks with clinics for over 600 patients per day set up often at very short notice dependent on deliveries of vaccine.

We have a team working up to 70 hours over seven days with the aim of vaccinating our population as quickly and safely as possible.

At the same time we are maintaining our normal GP services.

The vast majority of patients have been extremely complimentary about their vaccination experience, with minimal queueing and a safe professional process.

Unfortunately, but perhaps inevitably, we have had literally a couple of clinics where IT issues and medical emergencies have led to patients waiting.

It is perhaps incumbent on all of us to encourage vaccination for the greater good of our society.

The monumental efforts our staff are making demonstrates how important we feel this programme is, and I wonder if this is always recognised by those who are quick to criticise without reflection.
