THERE have been 124 new positive Covid cases recorded in the BCP area during the latest 24-hour period, latest government figures show.

The Department of Health and Social Care website shows 193 new positive case of the virus were recorded across Dorset in 24 hours up to 4pm on Wednesday, February 3.

In the BCP area, 124, new cases were reported, bringing the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 22,618.

Meanwhile, in the Dorset Council area 69 new cases have been reported in the same period.

Since March 9,882 cases have been confirmed.

The number of cases in the BCP area over the latest rolling seven-day period is 1,515, with a rate of 383.2 per 100,000 of the population.

In Dorset 804 cases have been confirmed in the last past seven days. The case rate is 212.4.

In the New Forest there were 22 new cases. The total in the district since the pandemic started is 5,360.

A total of 301 cases have been seen in the past seven days and the case rate is 167.1.
