TRIBUTES have poured in for Captain Sir Tom Moore who died after testing positive for Covid-19, aged 100.
The Second World War veteran who fundraised for the NHS last year was taken to hospital on Sunday after being treated for pneumonia and testing positive for the virus the week before last.
Tributes quickly began pouring in for the 'fundraising hero' following the heartbreaking news, including on the Daily Echo Facebook page.
One reader said: "So very sad, but what a memory he's left behind for us all. That generation were such strong people, his family must be so proud. He reached 100 and did what he felt he wanted to do. He will be remembered with love and respect."
Many echoed this reader's thoughts, drawing on how he was, and remains to be, an inspiration for many.
