PART of a dual carriageway has been closed to allow Bournemouth Water to fix a leaking water main.

The planned work, between the Bear Cross roundabout and Clock Garage roundabouts in Ringwood Road, has led to the road closure and diversions.

A spokesman for Bournemouth Water told the Daily Echo: "We are carrying out planned work to locate a leaking water main on Ringwood Road, Bournemouth.

10-storey office block could be turned into flats

"In agreement with Highways England we have closed the northbound and southbound carriageways on the road.

"This is due to the positioning of five large diameter water mains located in the road, and to protect our operators so we can safely excavate the area to find the leak.

"Once the leak has been located we will work to repair the pipe and reinstate the road so it can be reopened as soon as possible.

Dispersal notices issued by police in Bournemouth town centre

"No customer water supplies are being affected by this issue but it is necessary to complete this repair now to avoid further impact with other planned work in the area not relating to Bournemouth Water.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."

The Morebus X6 service is being diverted via High Howe Lane, Knighton Heath Road, Shapland Avenue and Magna Road.
