A BOURNEMOUTH market received a zero hygiene rating when it was inspected by council officials.
Metro Market, in Charminster Road, Bournemouth, received the rating when it was inspected at the end of 2020.
Food hygiene judges deemed major improvement was necessary in the hygienic food handling category.
This includes preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage.
They also found improvement was necessary in the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building.
This includes having the appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control to enable good food hygiene.
Finally, major improvement was necessary in the management of food safety.
This involved having a system or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.
At its previous inspection, in February 2018, Metro Market achieved a four-star rating.
