A CYCLIST fell off their bike and fell off a sea wall in Poole.

Poole Coastguard Rescue Team were called at 4.20pm on Saturday to Whitley Lake where the cyclist and fallen off the wall.

A spokesperson said: “They were tasked to a cyclist who'd come off their bike and fallen off the sea wall onto sand which is normally underwater.

“As the team arrived, they located the casualty with some off duty doctors, who had assessed the cyclist for any medical treatment required.

“With South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust under pressure, it was agreed the casualty could attend Poole Hospital with the assistance of doctors.”

Shortly before this incident, the coastguard was called to reports of two wing surfers in trouble in Poole Harbour.

The spokesperson said: “With light about to fade and a possible search, a request was made for Southbourne Coastguard to assist with extra crew numbers.

“As the Poole Coastguard headed towards the rendezvous point at North Haven, they spotted two surfers in the Sandbanks car park matching the description of the surfers we were looking for.

“After a quick investigation, these were the same surfers, who were enjoying the surf and weren't in trouble.

“As they confirmed the time they were at sea, and were the only ones in the area, the coastguard teams were stood down.”
