THE police helicopter and dog unit were called out in the early hours on Friday following a burglary at a Bournemouth property.

Officers received a report of the incident in the communal area of an address in Knole Road

Witnesses reported seeing efforts being made to remove items of value before they were disturbed.

A Bournemouth Police spokesperson said the NPAS helicopter and force dog unit assisted with searches.

It was confirmed later that a man had been arrested and was assisting officers with their enquiries.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We were called at around 2.05am on Friday, January 8m with a report that a man had broken into a communal area of a building in Knole Road in Bournemouth.

"It was reported that the man left the premises through a window.

"Officers attended and following enquiries a 36-year-old man was arrested in the area of Holdenhurst Road on suspicion of burglary. He is assisting officers with their enquiries."
