A DRIVER who provided a positive roadside drugs test during police patrols was banned for drug driving on the same road two years earlier.

Officers from the Dorset Police No Excuse team stopped a BMW in Castle Lane West last night.

A spokesman said: "In February 2018 we stopped a driver along Castle Lane West, Bournemouth who provided a positive drugwipe for cannabis.

"In August 2018 he received a 12 month disqualification and fines, served his period and reapplied for his licence later in 2019.

"Today the same officer stopped the same driver on the same road who again provided a positive drugwipe for cannabis and cocaine following reports of this male continuing to drug drive."

The driver was arrested and taken into custody where blood tests were carried out. He has been released under investigation awaiting the results.

"If over the specified drug limit the driver is possibly looking at being disqualified for a long period, such as minimum 36 months" added the spokesman.
