PLANS to build a single property in the garden of an existing address in Walkford have been met by scores of objections.

Developer Radmore Homes has submitted an application to BCP Council to erect a single-storey dwelling at the rear of 18 Amberwood Drive.

Alongside opposition from residents, Highcliffe & Walkford Parish Council has voiced its concerns.

In submitting the parish council’s objection, Cllr Trish Jamieson said: “This is very small plot at the rear of a semi-detached house and the proposed property is very small and not in keeping with surrounding area.

“Access is a single narrow driveway and shared with the semi-detached house in a very busy and already congested crescent with a large amount of on street parking.

“The proposed property will add to this congestion.

“There is loss of privacy on the surrounding houses. Precedent will be set if such a development is approved.”

A scheme from Radmore Homes for three single-storey dwellings and a single detached garage was refused in June 2017 and failed on appeal.

A planning statement on the single property proposal, submitted by Chapman Lily Planning on behalf of the applicants, says: “In this instance, the revised scheme is a clearly suitable use of land, which would have an acceptable plot size and depth; it would comply with the local pattern of development; the amount of soft landscaping would be commensurate with neighbouring properties; and the disturbance from vehicles would be minimal and by no means significantly adverse.

“This fresh proposal would be an excellent fit in this locality and as such would not lead to any significant or demonstrable harm to justify withholding planning permission.”

The application is currently being considered by BCP Council's planning officers.
