A JACKUP rig has temporarily anchored off Bournemouth beach, but it is just passing through.

Danish vessel Wind Server can be seen off the shores of Bournemouth.

It left Liverpool dock Mostyn on New Year’s Eve, with a final destination of Ijmuiden in the Netherlands.

According to the Marine Traffic website, it is scheduled to arrive in the Netherlands on January 8, but for now it remains anchored off Bournemouth beach.

The website states the vessel was built seven years ago, in 2014.

She has a length of 79.3 metres and a width of 32.3 metres.

It joins Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas off Dorset’s coast.

Over the past few months, a number of cruise ships have visited Bournemouth while cruises come to a halt during the coronavirus pandemic.

These include MV Ventura, The Marella Explorer, and Royal Caribbean's Empress of the Seas.

The cruise ships have become quite an attraction and have been dubbed 'ghost ships'.
